Things to do in Ranong

Perched off the North Andaman Coast, Ko Chang is laced with sandy beaches, emerald jungles and cashew orchards. Most of the action is centred along Ao Yai, a long beach lined with thatched bungalows, low-key resorts and barefoot beach bars. Hikes in the jungle offer a chance to spot monkeys, butterflies and rare hornbills.

Ko Phayam offers an off-the-grid experience with jungle hiking trails, the secluded Long Beach and picture-perfect seaside hammocks. You'll also find seafood restaurants serving fresh fish and squid.

One of Ranong's biggest draws is its excellent scuba diving opportunities. The province is a mecca for divers wanting to join liveaboard trips in the stunning Similan Islands, as well as Myanmar's legendary Mergui Archipelago. Expect crystalline water, colourful tropical fish, friendly dugongs and sea turtles.

Located just outside Ranong Town, Raksawarin Hot Springs are set beside the crystal-clear Phoemphon River. Take a dip in one of the public pools or splurge on a private hot spring. The mineral-rich water sits at around 40 degrees Celsius and is known for its therapeutic properties.

Getting around Ranong

Buses, ferries and flights arrive and depart from Ranong Town, the province's main transport hub. The town is easy to get around on foot or by using tuk-tuks. Ranong Province is also a popular destination for travellers crossing the border into Myanmar.
