Abha is anchored by a lively town centre. The mud-walled Shadda Palace sits in the heart of the city and was built in the early 1800s. Today it houses a local handicrafts museum where you'll find a colourful collection of woven baskets and beaded jewellery.

Topped by craggy mountains, Asir National Park is one of Saudi Arabia's most treasured green spaces. Scenic trails wind their way through thick juniper forests, with adventurous hikers making a beeline for Jabal Soodah peak.
